The Washkewicz College of Engineering continues to experience growth and expansion. Our student population has increased significantly over the last few years, and we are expanding our College into a new building by December 2017. We now have the need for additional faculty.
Mechanical Engineering Positions Available:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the areas of (1) Design and (2) Energy.

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Positions:
Design Position Description: The responsibilities include teaching design-oriented courses, at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including senior capstone design, and the ability to develop innovative research addressing fundamental challenges in mechanical components and systems design.

Energy Position Description: The responsibilities include teaching fluid and thermal courses at graduate and undergraduate levels. Desired areas of research focus include fundamental challenges in energy and power systems, including wind energy, fuel cells and other clean energy sources.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess an earned Doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline by the time of employment. Preference will be given to candidate who earned a BS in mechanical engineering.

Assistant College Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice Positions:
Industrial Motion Control Position Description: Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a passion for teaching. The candidate will be expected to teach in the areas of industrial motion control (fluid power and mechatronics) and related courses. The candidate will have the opportunity to design a new teaching lab for motion and control. Expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics and electromechanical technology would be invaluable.

Mechanical Design Position Description: Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a passion for teaching. The candidate will be required to teach in the areas of mechanical design and related courses, including Freshman Design and Senior Design.

Qualifications: Applicants must hold Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Appointment as Assistant Professor of Practice requires 10 years of professional experience. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a passion for teaching.

A 9-month contract will be offered at a competitive salary, commencing August 21, 2017. The salary for all positions is commensurate with background and experience. Start-up funds are available for the tenure-track Assistant Professor positions only.

About the College: The Washkewicz College of Engineering offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctor of Engineering degrees in several engineering fields. All undergraduate programs are ABET accredited. The Washkewicz College of Engineering traces its roots back to 1923 as Fenn College and has since maintained its reputation for excellence in engineering education and research. The college was renamed in 2013 to Washkewicz College of Engineering in honor of the transformative gift from Donald and Pamela Washkewicz and the Parker Hannifin Foundation. Also, due to these gifts, we have begun construction on a new engineering building to be completed December 2017.
